Even before the exhibition of contemporary Indonesian engaged photography temporarily evolved into a “self-isolating exhibition”, the Jakopič Gallery had prepared virtual guided tours.
After a year of enthusiasm, hard work and international collaborations, the exhibition Vision 20/20: Community – Contemporary Indonesian Engaged Photography is now finished and prepared to welcome visitors to the Jakopič Gallery. As soon as it will be possible, of course. Until then, they are inviting you to join their virtual community on the gallery’s social platforms, with scheduled virtual guided tours of the exhibition. Your virtual guides through 28 affecting projects, created by 27 Indonesian photographers selected through an open call on the theme of community, are the exhibition’s curators (Marija Skočir, Jakopič Gallery, Slovenia, Ng Swan Ti, PannaFoto, Indonesia, Saša Kralj, Living Atelier DK, Croatia) and several of the exhibiting authors.
Just as the guided tours, the exhibition opening on 17 March 2020 was also virtual. You can see it here.
“Photo-community” is an important term in the photographic world of Indonesia and at this exhibition, the visitor becomes part of it. Being part of photo communities provides opportunities for anyone to be a visual storyteller and, even more importantly, an engaged storyteller.
You are warmly invited to join, during these times of the “self-isolating exhibition”, the virtual community of the Jakopič Gallery.
