

The Opening Ethno Parade marks the beginning of the 65th Kurentovanje, an internationally renowned ethnological festival running from February 22 to March 4, 2025, in Ptuj. The parade will follow a route starting from Peš Bridge, passing through Cankarjeva Street, Prešeren Street, Slovenian Square, Slomšek Street, the market area, Miklošič Street, Town Square, Krempel Street, Minorite Square, and finally ending at the Carnival Hall, Campus Sava Ptuj.
This spectacular event showcases authentic folk traditions, colorful costumes, and age-old customs of Slovenia’s most famous carnival. A key highlight of the parade is the ceremonial handover of power, adding to the rich cultural experience. After the parade, visitors can enjoy performances by Deja Vu Band and a DJ, ensuring a lively continuation of the festivities.
Kurentovanje has been recognized as one of the world’s top 10 most interesting carnivals, making it a must-visit event for anyone eager to experience Slovenia’s vibrant cultural heritage.
