In the Vipava Valley, in the village of Gradišče near Vipava, a unique wine story is unfolding—one where wine is not only connected to land and tradition, but also to music. The Poljšak family believes that wine and music both speak to people in their own way, yet deep down they resonate with the same strings of the soul. This special sensitivity is reflected in their wines—in their character, elegance, and the story carried by every bottle.

A Family Tradition Since 1830

The story of Vina Poljšak dates back to 1830, when Anton Poljšak was born and later married into the estate in Gradišče, where viticulture had already been present. Since then, winemaking knowledge has been passed down through generations, and today the family represents the fifth generation of Poljšak winemakers.

On seven hectares of carefully cultivated vineyards, they continue the work of their ancestors while enhancing it with modern knowledge and a clear sense of quality.

Their estate sits in a beautiful location overlooking the Vipava Valley, with the old ancestral house standing above it, featuring arched cellars and a majestic chestnut tree at the entrance. The Poljšak family proudly shares that their wine was already enjoyed by the French during Napoleon’s time, when a French official had his office in the old house. This is more than just a historical detail—it is proof that wine is deeply rooted in the memory of this place.

A Unique Cellar with a Natural Spring

One of the most distinctive features of the estate is its cellar. During the excavation of a new cellar, they discovered a small cave with a natural water spring. They preserved it, built it up, and illuminated it, and today they proudly present it to visitors.

This natural element is not only visually impressive but also plays an important role in maintaining ideal cellar conditions, as it naturally regulates humidity and temperature.

It is details like this that turn a visit to Vina Poljšak into a true experience. Here, wine is not separate from its environment—it grows from it.

Vipava Varieties and a Signature Red Blend

On sunny vineyards with marl-rich soils, they primarily produce white varietal wines, including indigenous varieties such as Zelen, Pinela, and Poljšakica, as well as Sauvignon and blends from local grapes.

Among the red wines, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon stand out, while a special place is reserved for the blend Harmonija Red, which combines five red varieties. This wine perfectly represents their house style—balance, character, and harmony.

Their wines are gaining recognition year after year, with Sauvignon receiving awards both locally and internationally. All their wines carry a distinct signature of the Vipava Valley: ripeness, freshness, and solar energy.

Wine and Music as a Way of Life

The Poljšak family story is also closely tied to music. Father Stane was a self-taught violinist and passionate singer, and their home was often filled with friends, music, and good wine. That spirit is still alive today.

Even the modern design of their labels and overall winery identity reflects the fusion of music and wine.

Welcome to a Tasting Experience

At Vina Poljšak, guests are warmly welcomed for wine tastings—whether small or large groups. Tastings can be complemented with snacks and, upon request, music. A visit to their cellar is an encounter with wine, history, family, and the unique energy of the המקום.
