Slovenia Joins European Mobility Week: Striving for Fair and Accessible Transport for All

From September 16 to 22, 2025, Slovenia will once again take part in European Mobility Week, under the theme Mobility for Everyone. For 24 years running, 133 municipalities across the country are organizing events designed to promote sustainable transport habits and improve accessibility for all citizens, regardless of age, ability, socio-economic status or place of residence. The initiative includes efforts such as more frequent and reliable public transport, safe infrastructure for walking and cycling, on-demand services in rural areas, ride-sharing schemes, and enhanced accessibility in stations and stops. Minister Bojan Kumer emphasizes that mobility is not just a convenience—it’s a fundamental right. Organizers are calling on communities and individuals to participate, because even small changes—choosing to walk, cycle or share a ride—make a difference.

Germany Ends Slovenia’s EuroBasket Campaign in Quarter-finals Showdown

Slovenia’s journey at EuroBasket 2025 came to a disappointing end as they fell to Germany in the quarter-finals, unable to hold off a relentless German side. Despite moments of brilliance and strong effort from key players, Slovenia couldn’t stop Germany’s momentum, particularly in the second half where defensive gaps and turnovers proved costly.

Coach and fans alike expressed pride in the team’s overall performance, emphasizing the growth and promise shown throughout the tournament. While the loss stings, the campaign provided valuable experience and underlined Slovenia’s status as a competitive force in European basketball. The journey sets the stage for what’s next.

Minister Fajon at 20th Bled Strategic Forum: Diplomacy Must Serve People, Not Power

On September 1, 2025, Slovenia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, opened the 20th Bled Strategic Forum under the theme “A Runaway World”, emphasising that diplomacy should be in service of people rather than power. She argued that in times of global turbulence, principled leadership—anchored in the rule of law, shared solidarity, and moral conscience—is more important than ever.

During her address, Fajon highlighted Slovenia’s active international role through its memberships in the EU, NATO, and the UN Security Council, and reiterated support for Ukraine’s path towards sovereignty and EU membership.
