Organizers of Soča Outdoor Festival 2021 announced that the annual festival in Soča Valley will be held from 2nd till 4th of July.
Seven successfully performed festival editions of the Soča Outdoor Festival have already impressed the participants and confirmed that Tolmin, which is already recognizable as a festival city, and with it the Soča Valley, is also an ideal destination for a resounding sports festival.
This year will be the eighth edition of the Soča Outdoor Festival held in the stunning Soča Valley. This year the organizers of the event plan on combining running, stand-up paddling, and mountain biking, alongside other fun sports activities. Camping will be available on-site for festival-goers.
The backdrop of the Soča and Tolminka rivers provides competitors and visitors with an ideal place to compete, socialize and enjoy unforgettable energy, be it in the water, air, on the trails or evening parties.
The competition program, which focuses on trail runs on 10, 15, 25, and 45-kilometer routes is complemented by a rich accompanying program with annual innovations.
Mountain bikers will be excited to hear that the marathon race will be back this year. The path has already been picked and the organizers are working on improving it as we speak. The MTB marathon race will start on Sunday, July 4th at 9 am. The length of the race will be 45 kilometers, during which participants will endure almost 1,500 m of ascents.
From the start in Tolmin, the competitors will drive in the opposite direction of the Soča’s running waters. The first slope at Gabrje will be the first major challenge for the participants before enduring a long ascent from Kamna through the villages of Vrsno and Krn to the Medrja mountain. At the twenty-fifth kilometer, this will be the highest point of the marathon. 1,200 meters above sea level, cyclists will find themselves opposite the mighty ridge of the Spodnjebohinski mountains and at the beginning of a beautiful descent to the Church of the Holy Spirit in Javorca.
There will be three refreshments on the route, and the competitors will be divided into seven categories. One of them will also be e-MTB. On the challenging route across the Zatolmin mountain, e-cyclists will have to use battery power wisely. For those for whom the long marathon will be too long, they are preparing two shorter family cycling trips along the Soča.
Come and see for yourself!
