ALL OF CROATIA’S MICHELIN STAR RESTAURANTS MAINTAIN THEIR DISTINCTION
“Today, Croatia can be proud of a total of 84 restaurants holding prestigious MICHELIN labels. Considering that their system of awarding labels and recommendations is a complex and very mysterious process, this is great news and a great success for these Croatian restaurants, to whose owners and staff I extend my sincere congratulations. The CNTB is the main national partner of MICHELIN and our cooperation with this globally recognized brand, whose recommendations are respected and appreciated, certainly contributes to even better positioning of Croatian restaurants on the gastronomic map, and thus Croatia as a quality and indigenous gastronomic destination” said Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić, congratulating all the awarded and selected restaurants.
In addition to the above, Šug (Split) was included on the Bib Gourmand list, so today this label in Croatia is held by a total of 12 restaurants, while another 62 restaurants have the recommendation of this renowned gastronomic guide.
“Taking into account that food and beverages in the global tourism market are among the main motives for travel, our new Strategy for Sustainable Tourism Development until 2030 identifies great potential for exploiting synergies and further planned development in eno-gastronomy, which we want to base on authentic offer food and drink. Through top gastronomy, tourists get an unforgettable experience of the destination, and by consuming local food, local producers are supported. Inclusion in world-famous guides like Michelin is a recognition for all those who work continuously on quality. Our top chefs are putting Croatia on the gastronomic map of the world with their successes and I congratulate them on that“, concluded the Minister of Tourism and Sports Ms. Nikolina Brnjac.
“Our inspectors were sensitive to the constant quality of the culinary experiences proposed by the restaurants, as their teams demonstrated regularity and consistency, showing how important this essential criterion is for being distinguished with a MICHELIN Star”, explained Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides. “Year by year, we also observe an increasing commitment by restaurants and professionals towards more sustainable gastronomy, with a focus on high-quality, locally sourced products, which make the Croatian culinary patrimony proud”, added Gwendal Poullennec.
The new labels are the result of a secret tour of Croatian restaurants by professional MICHELIN inspectors, globally the most important and most recognized guide for restaurants on whose website the list for Croatia has been published.
