Last year, the winning story of the international “Identities – Walk of Water” photo contest came from a Slovenian photographer, whose work was featured in major global media, including The Guardian.
Will Slovenians continue this success in 2025?
The organization Onewater, in collaboration with UNESCO, has launched the “Walk of Water 2025 Photo Story Contest”, inviting photographers from around the world – including Slovenia – to explore how water shapes who we are.
Water as a Reflection of Identity
The contest’s central theme connects water and identity – showing how water influences our lives, professions, culture, and communities. Participants are encouraged to capture photographic stories that reveal water as a symbol of life, resilience, and inspiration in a changing world.
Awards and Global Recognition
With a prize pool exceeding €10,000, the contest offers much more than financial rewards. Winners will gain international exposure, have their work featured in exhibitions, and be published in global media and Onewater/UNESCO publications.

Free Entry – Open to All
Participation is free, and submissions are now open. Photographers are invited to submit a photo story – a visual narrative exploring the theme of water and identity. Entries will be evaluated by an international panel of experts in photography, art, and environmental storytelling.
