During the Paris Olympic Games, Serbia will be showcased across three venues: the Residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in France, the Cultural Centre of Serbia, and the Serbian House.
Located in La Villette Park, famously known as the “Park of Nations” during the Olympic Games for hosting fifteen national houses, the “Serbian House” will serve as a unique centre, offering visitors a rich and interactive experience of Serbian culture, history, sports, and gastronomy. This multifunctional pavilion is crafted to be a space where tradition and modernity intertwine, featuring innovative multimedia presentations and cultural events.
At the heart of the Serbian House lies the ‘Roots’ installation, a profound symbol of Serbian cultural and historical origins and a communal gathering space. Central to this installation stands a towering 6.5-meter sculpture representing the Tree of Life. Leveraging advanced technology, visitors to the Serbian House are transported into an immersive experience where sounds, scents, and movements vividly evoke the authentic atmosphere of Serbia. A multimedia room captivates visitors by integrating them seamlessly into the installation itself, playing with perception and enhancing the interactive experience. Innovative use of technological algorithms animates art on the pavilion walls, bringing to life the brush strokes of celebrated painter Nadežda Petrović and showcasing presentations on visionary figures such as Tesla and Milanković. The aim of the exhibition is to show that, as a people, we have often not only thought of ourselves throughout history and that our innovators have mostly contributed to humanity as a whole. The author, Dušan Jovović, has integrated sports, culture, science, and art in his concept.
Integral part of the “Serbian house” experience is a display showcasing the greatest achievements of our athletes in recent years. The footage is in the colours of Serbian flag. Additionally, digitized photographs from the Archives of Yugoslavia, rarely seen before, are featured. On the wall, named the “Mural of Eternity,” the names of athletes who participated in the Olympic Games for the Republic of Serbia are inscribed, regardless of the state’s historical name.
Exactly a year ago, right here in Paris, Belgrade was awarded the organization of EXPO 2027, proving once again that as a nation, we are engaged in innovation and making the world a better place. The visitors can enjoy Belgrade trough EXPO2027 window. Passersby in Belgrade can be seen in real-time, and a social game can be played with them remotely.
As a part of a cultural program, renowned Serbian artists are performing in the “Serbian House” – Biljana Krstić and “Bistrik,” trumpeters Dejan Petrović and Boban Marković, mime artist Marko Stojanović, the dance academy “Viva Dance,” the band of Vlada Maričić, the group “Kal,” and opera singers Nataša Tasić Knežević, Saša Knežević, Ljubica Vraneš, and Dragoljub Bajić. Slobodan Trkulja will give a solo concert, and a film about General Svetomir Đukić will be screened.
After immersing themselves in our captivating art exhibition and discovering the historical achievements of Olympians, visitors can unwind and rejuvenate at the “Serbian House” restaurant. Here, awarded chefs from the Junior Chefs Club of Serbia, a professional association of young chefs, will craft traditional Serbian dishes with a contemporary flair. Menu includes dishes such as ćevapi with Fruška Gora truffles, Leskovac mućkalica, komplet lepinja, Smederevo-style pike-perch, Vasina torta, dry pie with walnuts, and wheat ice cream. The visitors can taste rakija, domestic beer, as well as Serbian wines. All proceeds will be donated to support young people from Serbia who enrol in French art schools, to help them achieve their artistic goals and eventually return to their Serbia.
The “Serbian House” project is led by the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, with key partners including the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Paris, the Serbian Tourism Organization, and the Olympic Committee of Serbia.
We welcome the visitors every day till August 11th, at Park La Villette – Park of Nations.
