Lutkovno gledališče Ljubljana (Ljubljana Puppet Theatre) is continuing its activities online, under the heading Theatre Connects that allows our audiences to view the full-length videos of our shows from their homes.
They have been regularly posting new shows for children and youth on our website since the middle of March and have received tremendously positive feedback.
Amongst others our show for teenage audiences Brainstorm and Four Black Ants for smaller children have been seenby over fifteen thousand online viewers. The recordings are also being used by the teachers in their online classrooms. We have been receiving an abundance of messages of gratitude that strengthen our belief in the meaning and importance of theatre in these difficult times.
This year’s World Puppetry Day, celebrated on 21. March has also been marked by the preventive measures. Their actress Martina Maurič Lazar wrote: “World Puppetry Day might have been better spent visiting the theatre, but we can also find an open mind and our own creativity in the safe comfort of our homes.” Part of their staff has also joined the network of volunteers coordinated by the City of Ljubljana and the Home Care Institute of Ljubljana making the everyday life of the elderly easier with a friendly phone call.
