On the southern slopes of the Vipava Valley, in the idyllic village of Planina above Ajdovščina, wines are created that are not merely a drink, but an expression of a life philosophy. The Guerila Wine Estate is synonymous with biodynamics, respect for nature, and devotion to local grape varieties. Under the guidance of Zmagoslav Petrič, wines with a strong sense of place have been crafted here for almost two decades.
A Story Written in the Soil
Zmagoslav Petrič, born in 1956, grew up in a farming family where working with the land was part of everyday life. In the same year, his father Jožef received an award for grapes of the old local variety Pinela, a moment that today symbolically marks the beginning of the Guerila story.
Spending his childhood in the vineyard and cellar shaped the values that still guide his work today:
- humility
- responsibility
- honesty
- respect for nature
In 2005, Zmagoslav decided to turn these values into his own winemaking vision. Thus, the biodynamic wine estate Guerila was born, based on experience, continuous research, and a deep understanding of the Vipava Valley terroir.

More Than Wine – An Experience of Nature
Guerila’s vineyards are located on the sunny, steep slopes of the Vipava Hills, where Mediterranean and Karst influences meet.
The soils are modest yet exceptionally mineral-rich, consisting of a mix of:
- sand
- marl
- limestone
- sandstone
- Eocene clay
All vineyard work follows the biodynamic calendar, using:
- estate-made compost
- green manuring
- special biodynamic preparations
