Voices behind the 10th edition
The presentation of the book was hosted by Niko Slavnić, founder of The Slovenia publishing house, who opened a discussion on what makes Slovenia so special. He was joined by Yuri Barron, editor-in-chief and co-owner of In Your Pocket travel guide, who described how he was enchanted by the land of his ancestors.
The greatest challenge, they said, was convincing destinations and providers that their stories and offerings were worth highlighting – often they did not believe anyone would be interested. Yet these hidden corners and curiosities, many unknown even to locals, became the soul of the book.
Also contributing was Dr. Peter Kamien, marketing expert and translator of the German edition, who explained:
“I came to Slovenia for a very good reason – my wife. But I stayed for her and for the many beauties Slovenia offers. It was only natural to join this project and translate the German edition. The book is packed with information useful to both international guests and locals alike.”
Editor of the anniversary edition, Petra Kušar, added:
“We tend to travel abroad too often and don’t appreciate enough what our own country has to offer – especially its stunning nature, peace, and diversity, with the sea, mountains, karst, and thermal landscapes all within reach. Slovenia also has outstanding gastronomy, fascinating events, unique experiences, successful companies, and a rich variety of accommodations. All of this is presented in the book.”
Finally, Niko Slavnić concluded:
“This is the book through which you can truly feel Slovenia – and gift it with pride.”
