In the far eastern point of Slovenia, you’ll find the lovely Keltis winery. The estate is run by the Kelhar family whose winemaking roots go all the way back to 1776.

They have been specializing in organic wines since 1989, when son Miha took over and began taking part in wine fairs. His first original wine was Cuvée Extrême, which finished second in the Orange Wine Festival in Vienna in 2009.

Their five hectare estate in the village of Bizeljsko produces up to 20,000 bottles per year making them a renowned Keltis boutique winemaker, with a label that is increasingly popular in Europe and North America. Other wines in their range are classics such as Tramenic and Muscat, macerated Chardonnay and Pinot, sparkling Mario Brut and Rosé, and also their own version of Tawny port.

The family pride themselves on working in harmony with nature so their wines only come to the market when they’re ready, thus ensuring the fruits are at their very best before harvesting and providing their optimum flavour.
