The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) continues to make gains to female economic empowerment, however, continued progress is needed to achieve gender-parity in the workplace.

The eighth update of the Women in Work Index provides our assessment of female economic empowerment in 2018 across 33 OECD countries. The Index is a weighted average of five indicators that reflect female participation in the labor market and equality in the workplace.

Between 2017 and 2018, our Index shows the OECD continued to achieve incremental gains to female economic empowerment, mainly as a result of increasing the female labor force participation rate and the female full-time employment rate, as well as reducing the female
unemployment rate.

The top 3 performing countries remain unchanged, with Nordic countries occupying the top two positions on the Women in Work Index, and Slovenia in third place.
