Winery of the week: Colnar

Colnar Winery is located in the Dolenjska wine-growing region, in the village of Lešnica near Otočec. It is a family-owned wine estate where the tradition of winemaking has been passed down from generation to generation. The Colnar family cultivates its own vineyards, allowing them full control over the quality of the grapes and the final wine. Their philosophy is based on respect for nature, the characteristics of the terroir, and the authenticity of Dolenjska wines.

Vineyards and Wine Selection

The vineyards extend over 17 hectares of carefully selected sites, where excellent sun exposure and diverse soils create ideal conditions for grape ripening. The key varieties include Cviček, Blaufränkisch, Welschriesling, Kraljevina, and rosé. A special feature of their portfolio is the white blend Collis.

Colnar is particularly proud of its Cviček, which has received the title “King of Cviček” multiple times, confirming its outstanding quality and consistency. Their wines regularly earn awards both nationally and internationally, including recognition at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

The Best Specialty coffee roasters in Slovenia

In the past decade, specialty coffee culture has also seen significant growth in Slovenia. It refers to coffee of the highest quality, grown with great care, carefully roasted, and properly prepared to fully express its aromatic potential in the cup. New Winery and Experiences

In 2022, they opened a new, modern winery where visitors can enjoy guided tours and tastings. Tastings are tailored to guests’ preferences and typically include three to six wines accompanied by local delicacies. Visitors can discover the entire production process – from vineyard to bottle.
