Slovenia has revealed its first Future 100 Slovenia – a data-driven selection of 100 Slovenian companies identified as having strong potential to scale, internationalise and become the country’s next generation of growth champions.
The Future 100 Slovenia 2026 list was unveiled on 31 August 2026 in Bled, during the Future 500 Forum held alongside the Bled Strategic Forum. It is the first full national implementation of the Future 500 Index.
And importantly, the organisers stress that Future 100 is not a ranking. The companies are not placed from first to 100th. Instead, the list is designed as a signal of where Slovenia’s capacity for future scale already exists.

How were the Future 100 Slovenia companies selected?
The scale of the selection process is perhaps more interesting than the final number.
More than 203,000 registered Slovenian companies were screened. From those, 603 companies met the initial high-growth criteria and progressed to a more detailed assessment.
The final selection used seven weighted dimensions and 19 indicators.
The methodology looks beyond simple revenue growth and examines factors including:
- productivity and financial strength
- international presence and exports
- R&D and innovation
- patents and participation in European research programmes
- governance
- leadership stability
- environmental reporting
Companies did not apply or nominate themselves. The initial candidate universe was created using official business-register data, while a controlled Wild Card mechanism allows experts to identify exceptional companies whose potential may not yet be fully visible in standard financial indicators.

€2.1 billion in revenue and 8,100 jobs
Taken together, the Future 100 Slovenia companies already represent a significant part of Slovenia’s emerging growth economy.
According to Future 500 data, the 100 companies currently generate around €2.1 billion in combined revenue, compared with roughly €1 billion three years earlier – an increase of around 112%.
Together they employ approximately 8,100 people, including around 2,400 jobs created during the past three years.
The group’s median annual growth rate is 30%, while roughly one in six companies is growing by more than 50% annually.
But the list is deliberately not dominated only by Slovenia’s largest businesses.
61 of the 100 companies generate less than €10 million in annual revenue, underlining the central idea behind Future 100: identifying companies with the ability to become significantly larger, rather than simply recognising companies that are already large.
Technology leads, but Slovenian industry remains strong
The composition of the Future 100 also offers an interesting snapshot of where Slovenia’s next generation of growth may come from.
The selection includes:
45 technology companies, including IT, digital and AI businesses;
37 manufacturing companies;
14 engineering, research and development companies;
and 4 companies from other activities.
That combination reflects one of Slovenia’s strongest economic characteristics: a growing digital and deep-tech ecosystem operating alongside a well-established industrial and engineering base.
Among the names on the list are internationally recognised Slovenian businesses such as Dewesoft, Pipistrel Vertical Solutions, Sportradar, NGEN, Bird Buddy Studio, MESI, Cosylab, Better, Zebra BI and Kolektor Etra, alongside dozens of companies that remain far less familiar to the wider public.
Why Future 100 Slovenia matters
Future 100 Slovenia is intended to do more than produce another annual business list.
Its purpose is to make promising Slovenian scale-ups more visible to investors, institutions, strategic partners and European markets.
The Future 500 Initiative describes the selection as structured intelligence for organisations deciding where capital, support and international connections could have the greatest impact.
The Slovenian government has also highlighted the initiative as a way of identifying companies with significant potential for further international growth, while the Future 500 Forum brings together entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and representatives of European institutions.
Slovenia is the first country to receive a full national Future 500 assessment, effectively becoming the reference point for future national editions.
And that may ultimately be more important than who appears on the first list.
The question is what happens to these companies next – and how many of today’s Future 100 Slovenia companies can become Europe’s next global business champions.
