AGRA FAIR, TRADITIONALLY FRESH FOR THE 60ST TIME!
The AGRA International Agriculture and Food Fair from 26th to 31st August in Gornja Radgona, Slovenia will impress with cutting-edge technology, machinery, equipment and resources for agriculture, forestry, wine and food. It will showcase top breeding achievements with expert livestock exhibitions and invite visitors to the lush fair gardens with the best sustainable practices. It will be linked to professional and social events and will toast the cooperation with the best agricultural produce, food and wines.
Top exhibitors will offer innovative digital solutions, the latest technology and the world’s leading brands in agricultural and forestry machinery and equipment. Seeds, seedlings, animal and plant care products, equipment for the food processing and catering industries, as well as packaging will be on offer. Excellent produce and food products from the food processing industry and supplementary farm activities will be on display. The wine hall will offer excellent wines and wine-growing and wine-making equipment. There will be a rich programme of agricultural constructions and equipment for gardens and landscaping.
The partner country of the AGRA fair will be India. There will also be other interesting national and regional presentations, like Montenegro, North Macedonia, Hungary, Austrian Styria, Ukraine, Senegal …
In addition to top providers from all continents, producers, businessmen, professionals and consumers will be connected by the most important professional, economic and expert organizations, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, the Slovenian Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry, the Cooperative Union of Slovenia, the Slovenian Forest Service, the Chamber of Agricultural and Food Companies, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia and other umbrella organisations.
The best traditions and new practices will be brought to life through expert presentations on cattle breeding, horse breeding, small livestock breeding and an exhibition of indigenous breeds of Slovenian domestic animals with a range of farm products. The menagerie will be the venue for attractive daily shows.
Practical advice will be provided by the festively decorated fair gardens, the Permaculture Centre of Pomurski Sejem with a model apiary, the forest park plantation and the plantation of old varieties of apple trees and vines.
The fair content will focus on the International Year of Millets. Innovation and digitization will be captivating for agriculture of the future. Ecological agriculture and food from our vicinity will show the way to reducing the consequences of climate change, to preserving biodiversity and clean water resources. The fair will call for increasing food security by strengthening the countryside, and for greater self-sufficiency through good forest and wood management.
The accompanying and social program will be marked by a wood cutting competition of forest owners, a polka dancing competition, a demonstration of calf management by the youngest breeders, a meeting of vintage Steyr tractors and many other rank meetings.
EXPERT ANIMAL EXHIBITIONS
The presentation of indigenous breeds at the AGRA fair means the promotion of a living Slovenian cultural heritage. Cika cattle, Jezersko-Solčava sheep, Bela Krajina strand sheep, Drežnica goats, Carniolan bees and Styrian hens will be shown. Present breeders will offer the products of autochthonous breeds to visitors for tasting and purchase.
The fair is traditionally accompanied by exhibitions of cattle, horses, small cattle, consumable fish, small animals and beekeeping.
Every day the arena will be a place of interesting activities.
PLANTATIONS
The Central Fair Garden presents over 300 plants for healthy family self-supply. The Ecological Green Jewels of Nature polygon displays collections of different varieties of hemp, medicinal and aromatic plants, honey crops, irrigation systems and energy points.
The Permaculture Centre, with horseshoe shaped beds, invites visitors to see a spectrum of special and some lesser-known plants, which, in addition to being welcome in cuisines, are likewise welcome as a decoration in the garden, decoration in the kitchen and on a plate. At the straw bale cottage, members of the Slovenian Permaculture Society will carry out various workshops, focusing on permaculture in agriculture, fruit growing and horticulture. The Slovenian Forest Service will ensure rich and informative activities in the forest park plantation.
PRESENTATION OF AWARDS IN THE PROFESSIONAL QUALITY ASSESSMENTS CARRIED OUT UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE 2023 AGRA FAIR
Prior to the opening of the AGRA fair, the traditional international product quality assessments were held. The recognitions from these assessments give the award-winning products significant advantages and a reputation in both domestic and foreign markets because they are trusted by professionals, traders as well as end consumers.
