The new Gault & Millau culinary guide has further cemented the position of three restaurants, Hi\u0161a Denk, Hi\u0161a Franko<\/a>, and Gostilna Pri Lojzetu, as top culinary destinations in Slovenia, after the three had already received excellent scores in the country’s first Michelin guide in 2020<\/a>. <\/h2>

Gregor Vra\u010dko of Hi\u0161a Denk <\/a><\/strong>in Zgornja Kungota was named chef of the year 2021 <\/a><\/strong>by Gault & Millau, while his restaurant received four toques, the highest possible score in the Gault & Millau guide. Hi\u0161a Denk and Pri Lojzetu each have two Michelin stars<\/a><\/strong>, while Hi\u0161a Franko became the first and only restaurant in Slovenia <\/a><\/strong>to get the highest Michelin score of three stars in June. Ana Ro\u0161 <\/a><\/strong>is the proud holder of two Michelin stars.<\/p>

Five other restaurants also received the four toques rating: Hi\u0161a Franko in Kobarid and Gostila pri Lojzetu in Vipava<\/a><\/strong>, as well as O\u0161terija Debeluh in Bre\u017eice<\/a><\/strong>, Restavracija Mak in Maribor<\/a><\/strong> and Restavracija Strelec in Ljubljana<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>

Grega Repov\u017e of Gostilna Repov\u017e in \u0160entjan\u017e <\/a><\/strong>was named the best sommelier of 2021. The restaurant also received the Bib Gourmand designation by from Michelin for exceptionally good food at modest prices.<\/p>

The best patisserie award went to Fetiche Patisserie in Ljubljana. The popularity award went to Wine Bar \u0160uklje in Ljubljana.<\/p>

Mojca Trnovec of Gostilna Mihovec in Zgornje Pirni\u010de<\/a><\/strong> was named the best traditional cuisine chef, while Luka Ko\u0161ir of Gostilna Gri\u010d in \u0160entjo\u0161t nad Horjulom was named the best chef of the future<\/a><\/strong>. His establishment also received the Bib Gourmand.<\/p>

The best young talent title went to Leon Pintari\u010d of Rajh in Murska Sobota<\/a><\/strong>, which also received the Bib Gourmand from Michelin.<\/p>

Gault & Millau Slovenija director Mira \u0160emi\u0107<\/strong> said as the guide was launched that 2020 had been a hard year, but the guide nevertheless managed to find a number of great culinary stories. “Awards are an inspiration to other restaurateurs and proof that we recognise creativity.<\/em>“<\/p>

The head of the Slovenian Tourism Board (STO) Maja Pak said that the awards were a great recognition for gastronomy in Slovenia at a time when tourism and gastronomy faced the worst crisis in history due to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>

Today is a day to celebrate, as Slovenia bears the title European Region of Gastronomy 2021<\/strong><\/a>, said Pak. “These awards are a great introduction to a gastronomically themed year<\/em>.”<\/p>
