The book that placed Slovenia on the culinary map of the world is available in shops!<\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong><em>We worked together with the expert commission, the Chefs &amp; Foodies Academy and all of you, so we could select the best restaurants in Slovenia.\u00a0We have prepared a selection and a comprehensive guide to the best restaurants in Slovenia for 2017. All 140 restaurants,\u00a0the very best that Slovenia offers, are presented in the book, which also offers ideas for business lunches, snacks on a Saturday trip, or dinners on a special occasions in both English and Slovene.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An increasing demand from tourists for reviews of Slovenian restaurants in foreign languages and the fact that these reviews are a rarity even in Slovene, made us realise that the process of reviewing Slovene restaurants should begin and we started The Slovenia Restaurant Awards (TSRA) project with help from some Slovenia\u2019s foremost experts. The selection of the best Slovenian restaurants is meant for both tourists and the general Slovenian public \u2013 how many times have you thought about going out for a nice family lunch on Sunday, but have no idea where to go?<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/the-slovenia.com\/product\/the-slovenia-restaurants-top-163\/<\/p>\n<h2>Who is the expert committee?<\/h2>\n<p>The Slovenia Restaurant Awards project was divided into three phases: first, a shortlist of the best restaurants was prepared by an expert commission composed of <strong>Helena Cvikl <\/strong>(Director of the School for Catering and Tourism in Maribor), <strong>Mira \u0160emi\u0107<\/strong> (wine connoisseur, famed sommelier and world traveller), <strong>Dr Janez Bogataj<\/strong> (Dr Bogataj is Slovenia\u2019s most recognised ethnologist, author of countless books, and driving force behind numerous culinary projects), <strong>Dr Ale\u0161 Ga\u010dnik<\/strong> (Head of the Department of Cultural Tourism and Cultural Heritage at the University of Primorska), and <strong>Yuri Barron<\/strong> (Managing Editor at In Your Pocket and The Slovenia Publishing).<\/p>\n<p>The expert commission assessed the restaurants according to carefully prepared criteria, but the main guideline is only one;\u00a0this was not the price of food, the size of the restaurant or the availability of the site,\u00a0but overall satisfaction with visiting the restaurant.\u00a0 The list of the top restaurants was narrowed down by the Chefs &amp; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/300;\" \/><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/the-slovenia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/sloveniarestaurantstisknotranjostLdragged10-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><br \/>\n\t\t\t<\/figure>\n<h2>What\u2019s in the book?<\/h2>\n<p>The TSRA project was well-received by both Slovenes and foreigners, thus we decided to put all the information about restaurants into one convenient book.\u00a0Slovenia is divided into five regions: North, South, East, West and Ljubljana with central Slovenia, and all together 140 restaurants were selected across Slovenia.\u00a0The book is bilingual,\u00a0in Slovenian and English, as we wanted the doors of the best Slovenian restaurants to be open to as wide an audience as possible.\u00a0In each section,\u00a0the regional winner is presented first,\u00a0with the finalists following in the alphabetical order, and you can also find other culinary highlights such as the best Slovenian dishes, top winemakers, interviews with members of the commission and the winner of the TSRA selection, as well as an interview with Ana Ro\u0161, the World\u2019s Best Female Chef for 2017.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>The Editorial Team<\/h2>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/the-slovenia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/BillsBio-1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"BillsBio-1-150x150\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 150px;
