The busiest weeks of summer are coming to an end, but the days are still pleasantly warm, the Adriatic coast can still feel summery, hiking conditions are often excellent and Slovenia’s wine regions are entering one of their most exciting periods of the year.<\/p>

Visit Slovenia in September 2026<\/strong> and you can combine Ljubljana, Lake Bled, the Julian Alps, the coast, caves and vineyards in a single trip \u2013 often with fewer crowds than in July and August.<\/p>

September marks the beginning of meteorological autumn in Slovenia, but that does not mean summer disappears overnight.<\/p>

In Ljubljana<\/strong>, official ARSO climate normals for 1991\u20132020 show a September average temperature of 16.1\u00b0C<\/strong>, with an average daytime high of 21.8\u00b0C<\/strong> and nighttime low of 11.7\u00b0C<\/strong>. Warm spells can still push temperatures considerably higher.<\/p>

On the Slovenian coast<\/strong>, September is noticeably warmer. At Portoro\u017e Airport, the 1991\u20132020 averages are 24.7\u00b0C during the day<\/strong>, 13.8\u00b0C at night<\/strong> and an overall monthly average of 18.4\u00b0C<\/strong>.<\/p>

The Alpine region is cooler. Around the Bled area, September daytime averages are roughly around 20\u00b0C<\/strong>, while mornings and evenings can fall below 10\u00b0C. In the high mountains, conditions are dramatically different: at Kredarica, 2,513 metres above sea level, the September average is only 3.6\u00b0C<\/strong>, with average daytime highs of 6.3\u00b0C<\/strong>.<\/p>
