Vina Kobal are synonymous with wines of a distinctive, recognizable Styrian character. They are crafted from selected vineyards of Styria Slovenia, primarily the steep slopes of the Haloze region, where marl soils dominate and vines\u2014some over 35 years old\u2014thrive. This unique combination results in wines with clear varietal expression, freshness, and a strongly defined terroir.<\/strong><\/p>

Haloze \u2013 2,000 Years of Winemaking Tradition<\/strong><\/h2>

Haloze is considered one of the oldest wine-growing regions in Europe. Grapevines were planted here as early as Roman times, and during the Austro-Hungarian Empire the area was regarded as one of the most prestigious wine regions of the realm. Vineyards lie on sunny southern and southeastern exposures, enriched with marl soils that give the wines exceptional minerality and depth of flavor.<\/p>

A Creation of Nature and People<\/strong><\/h2>

Every Kobal wine is the result of dedicated work and a deep understanding of nature. Their viticulture is defined by an individual approach\u2014each grape variety is treated separately, according to its ripeness and potential.<\/p>

Cold maceration (24\u201372 hours) plays a key role, enhancing aromatics and distinctive varietal characteristics.
The wines mature in stainless steel tanks, oak barrels, or on fine lees using the b\u00e2tonnage method, creating the fullness, creaminess, and elegance for which Kobal wines are known.<\/p>

Ptuj \u2013 A Cultural and Wine Story Beneath the Castle Hill<\/strong><\/h2>

At the heart of the Kobal Wines story is Ptuj, the oldest town in Slovenia, first mentioned in the year 69 as the Roman Petovia.
Below the castle hill, in the oldest house in the town, lies Vinoteka Kobal, where visitors experience the wine tradition of Haloze through tastings and storytelling.<\/p>

Ptuj is also home to the world-famous Kurentovanje festival, listed by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, giving the town a special cultural vibrancy and a strong connection to local winemaking tradition.<\/p>
