Festival Maribor 2025 will take place from 11 to 21 September 2025 in Maribor, offering top-quality classical music that enriches the city’s cultural life and attracts audiences from Slovenia and abroad.
The festival is one of the most prestigious of its kind in Slovenia, with roots dating back to 1964 (originally as the Festival of Baroque Music). Since 2008, under its modern concept, Festival Maribor has gained an international reputation for its sophisticated blend of chamber and symphonic concerts, vocal-instrumental works, and collaborative projects with leading artists and ensembles. It frequently presents premieres and specially curated performances created exclusively for the festival.
The 2025 edition invites audiences to experience the weight of the moment, the seasons, dreams, the night, transience, and memory – all expressed through the power of music. According to artistic director Matej Bekavac, the festival is envisioned as a “cradle of new sounds, a map of unexplored musical landscapes, and a launch pad into new constellations” – a creative laboratory where originality and inspiration take shape.
Concerts will take place at several distinctive venues across Maribor – from Narodni dom and Union Hall to the Minorite Church and Vetrinje Mansion – giving the festival a unique architectural and cultural backdrop. When music flows into these historic spaces, the event becomes more than a classical music festival; it becomes part of the city’s identity.
