Rose summer

There are several rosaries in the Arboretum. The largest is the Upper rosary above the administration, followed by the Lower rosary on the edges of the outer parterre, near the entrance there is a collection of papal roses in a separate rosary, on the southern side of the pier there is a themed collection of potted roses, the Marija Auersperg Attems Rose Garden, and in the northern courtyard of the pier, the Slovenian Garden of roses and the Garden of famous Roses. Each of the rosaries is planted according to its own key for the selection of varieties and growth of roses. In total, there are almost 1,200 different varieties of roses in the Arboretum. Roses bloom from mid-May to the end of September. On 3 November 2022, the World Federation of Rose Lovers’ Societies awarded the Volčji Potok Arboretum the WFRS Award of Garden Excellence. It is awarded to rose gardens with the best rose maintenance and presentation.
